Valve Selection - Panel Discussion

The Fugitive Emissions workshop will feature the presence of renowned specialists who will discuss some of the implications of Fugitive Emissions regulations on valves. Topics will include sealing technologies for low emissions, consequences of low emissions for valve performance, current standards and what lies ahead, and maintenance solutions for reducing fugitive emissions on installed valves.

  • Bronson Pate, TRICORD Consulting

  • João Carlos  Vitorino, Consultant

The New Technologies session will feature a selection of presentations focusing on valve innovations and new technology for the flow control industry.

  • Self-contained Electrohydraulic, Fail-safe, Spring-return, SIS,  Partial Stroke Actuator - Rodrigo Garza, Bray International

  • Evolution of Reliability on Assets through Digital Services - Eduardo Mulato Jimenez, Neles

  • New Product Technology - Kelwin Hernandez, Cameron, a Schlumberger company

Valve selection follows a similar strategy in any segment. Having said that, a professional used to specify valves for upstream is not automatically qualified to do the same in mid or downstream. In this workshop, experienced professionals from each segment will share their experiences and help newcomers understand the many layers of knowledge required to do proper valve selection, such as standards, materials, supplementary requirements, and fugitive emissions.

Panelists:

  • Andres Tobacia, Anything Flows (US Valve Distributor)
  • Adrian Meza, Worcester Valves (API 6D, API 607 Ball valves)
  • Chance Russo, Sesto Valves (Delta T Butterfly Valves, API 598 Butterfly valves & control valves)
  • Rene Ferreira, Bray Flotek (Metal Seated MS-SP-61 Ball valves)
  • Felipe Ruiz, Xanik (API 600 Gate , globe and check valves)

Testing & Maintenance

Valves are used in many applications throughout the industrial, commercial, and residential industries. Due to this wide range of uses, there are several major regulatory organizations which provide standards to ensure proper functionality, compatibility and safety for users.

Differences Between the Traditional standard for Globe Valves - BS 1873 & API 623 – Felipe Ruiz, Xanik/Xanor de Mexico

What you Have Always Wanted to Know About Valves – and no one has told you – to Achieve the Best Performance & Reduce Leakage Levels using International ISO Standards - Jose Luis Trejo Rosales, Vacoisa

The Valve Design workshop will discuss the different variables required today to be successful in the complete design of a valve, by looking into the solutions that are currently available. We will focus on how to determine which valve design to use for specific services and processes, and new valve design technologies.

  •  Trunnion Ball Valve Design & the Proper Selection of Seat & Seal Systems – Felipe Llanos, Bray Internationa

  • Exploring Severe Service Ball Valves – Rene Ferreira, Bray International

  • Triple Offset Butterfly Valves with Replaceable Seat & Seal Systems for Longer Life & Lower Operational Costs – Felipe Llanos, Bray International

  • Demystifying the Use of Rotary Valves to Control with High-rangeability & More Accuracy – Rene Ferreira, Bray International

The Testing & Maintenance workshop will look at the testing and maintenance needed for valve applications throughout various industries. We will discuss how specific services can affect a valve and how using the correct testing and maintenance will increase a valve’s lifecycle.
